Color My World

Last year, Angelfish was contracted to create six vignettes for the YMCA’s Middle School and Teen Clubs. The theme, Color My World, was an act of service that each club had to design and execute. Featuring six of the Metro Atlanta branches, the clubs participated in activities such as food drives, clothing collections, holiday gift bags for sponsored families and Blessing Bags for the homeless. I had the honor to interview and get to know these amazing middle schoolers and teens, all on the path to be future leaders in the community. I also enjoyed learning about the goals and thoughtful planning from each of the branch and youth directors.

To celebrate this initiative, there was an inaugural ceremony where each of the clubs and select participants received awards after each video was presented. So often as a storyteller and production company, when you deliver you don’t always get the reward of seeing the content in the final environment. Attending the ceremony was such an honor. To witness the middle schoolers and teens seeing themselves on the ‘big screen,’ priceless. An honor, too, to celebrate all that they accomplished for their communities.

As we approach Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Day of Service,” I’m sharing the Teen Club vignette for a bit of inspiration.
